Elysium Health Seeks to Support Cellular Health

A new health startup called Elysium Health is seeking to make evidence-based dietary supplements. The company was founded in 2014 by Dr. Leonard Guarente, the director of the Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT. Dr. Guarente sought to bring rigor to an otherwise unregulated industry, so he created a company that is translating advances in science and technology into health products that work.

Elysium Health works together with world-class scientists from prestigious institutions like Cambridge and Harvard. Dr. Guarente himself has conducted significant research on the genetic and molecular causes of aging during his career as well.

Elysium Health currently sells the supplement Basis. Basis works to support our cellular health by increasing levels of an essential coenzyme called NAD+ in our cells. NAD+ is needed for many cellular functions like energy creation and DNA protection. As we age, the levels of NAD+ decline and those functions break down. But Basis supports those functions by increasing levels of NAD+.

A clinical trial in 2016 proved that Basis increases levels of NAD+ in humans by an average of 40 percent. Since Basis is designed for long-term use, these increases can be achieved after taking the supplement over several weeks.

Basis is also third-party tested for quality to ensure that Elysium Health’s products are manufactured to the highest standards.

If you are on a diet or have allergies, no need to worry. Basis is a gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian, and vegan supplement. It also contains no artificial colors or flavors.

Basis is sold on Elysium Health’s website. An individual jar of Basis contains 60 capsules, which is enough supplement for 30-days of daily usage. A single jar costs $60, but monthly subscriptions to Basis bring the cost down to between $40 and $50.
